Bifocals and Valentine's Day Decor "Pinspiration"

Hey, hey! How was your weekend? Ours was pretty uneventful. It was a 3-day weekend for my daughter and my hubby so we had a nice, quiet Monday. I sound old don't I? Oh, to add to that I went to the eye doctor today. I had Lasik a few years ago and my distance vision is still pretty good, but it certainly is not  perfect anymore. As far as my close vision goes, my arms have gotten too short to read small writing. Any of you over 40 probably know what I mean. I've been using readers, but they aren't working out so well. I probably have 8 pair but they never seem to be where I need them. I've even found them hiding in sneaky places...like the top of my head. ;) Yes, I've been having a lot of what I call "mom" moments lately, many of them centered around looking for my reading glasses. I finally decided "to heck with that", I'm going to go back to wearing glasses. At least I can go without them for distance if I want to, but being able to see close up all the time is going to be awesome! Besides, I'm getting a crook in my neck from looking over the top of my readers all the time. Anyway, anyone considering Lasik be sure to consider all that before hand. I'm still glad I did it though because I had been wearing glasses since 7th grade and was blind as a bat without them. Okay, enough about me aging!

How about a little Valentine's Day pinspiration? It is a little more challenging to find Valentine's Day decorating ideas than many other holidays so I have rounded up some ideas to share with you.

I think this is a great example of how you can still decorate your fireplace mantel if you have your TV hanging over it. I like the symmetry and height of the topiaries on either end of the TV.

This sweet wreath could really be made for any holiday or season by just changing the fabric used. I think I will have to make one of these...how cute would this be in Easter or Halloween fabric?!

I love the way Beth from Home Stories A to Z used a tree branch to create
the main focal point for her Valentine's mantel.

This garland was made using a technique I bet most of you will remember doing in grade school art class...very simple but very ca-ute! Click on the source under the picture to see the tutorial. By the way, don't you just love the chalkboard art, too?

Here is one last idea. It doesn't get much easier than this.
Even those of you who claim you are not "crafty" can do this. It is so cute and festive!

That's it for today! I will be back in a day or two with part 4 of my money management series.

Take care,

Amy
